Posture for models: what practice can and can't change

Posture changes how you carry yourself in photos and in person. It never changes your measured height.

How this affects your score

Posture is a small, changeable factor in our score, and only when you add the optional on-device body photo. It never adds inches: agencies measure you in person.

01

What the evidence says

  • Exercise programs improved forward head posture in the short term across randomized trials, but the certainty of that evidence is low.[51]

02

A 5-minute daily set

Slow, controlled reps. Stop if anything hurts.
  • Chin tucks: 10 slow reps, head level, lengthening the back of the neck.
  • Wall angels: 10 reps, back and arms against a wall.
  • Band pull-aparts or doorway rows: 2 sets of 12.
  • Thoracic extension over a rolled towel: 60 seconds.

03

Strength on top

  • Muscle strengthening on 2 or more days a week is part of the HHS baseline for adults.[52]

Questions

Asked, answered.

Will posture make me taller for runway?
No. Standing tall changes how your height reads in a photo, but agencies measure you barefoot, in person. Our score never counts posture as height.
